Nesting Season & the Wildlife and Countryside Act
Under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, it is an offence to intentionally damage or destroy the nest of any wild bird while it is in use or being built. The main bird nesting season in the UK runs approximately from March to August, although some species may nest earlier or later. Before carrying out any hedge cutting work during this period, we always inspect the hedge carefully for signs of nesting birds. If active nests are found, we will delay the work until the young have fledged.
